The “Take-A-Seat” is a chair concept that follows you wherever you go designed by Jelte van Geest. For instance if you’re in a library and you are a member of that library as you can see in this video. You hold your membership-card in front of the chair and from then on you have a seat that follows you around. How nice if we had those in Singapore NLB, then we would not have to sit around the floor as most of the seats are taken up by people usually.

” Come save with POSB but pay $4.50 to deposit coins MY SON was happy to receive a piggy bank in the form of a can from POSB a few months ago. It was distributed in his school, together with a booklet, to encourage young children to put aside some money daily.

It took him a while to fill the 11cm-tall can to the brim.

I took him to the bank on Tuesday to deposit his savings but found out to our dismay that a charge would be imposed on the 500-plus coins which amounted to $86.60.

Except for the first 200 coins, there was a charge of $1.50 for every 100 coins, and $4.50 was deducted from his POSB account promptly.

To adults, $4.50 may seem insignificant but to a young child it is a lot.

If a child receives $1 per school day, the most he could save is 10-30 cents and he would need between 15 and 45 days to save $4.50.

It would also take him a long time to recoup that amount in the form of interest on his savings account.

My son was clearly upset. It demoralised him to know that he would be charged for making deposits in coins should he continue saving money.

I hope POSB will relook the charge and not contradict itself by first providing piggy banks to encourage savings and then charging the children for depositing their coins.”

Heehee.. I finally finished my 4 Day course on meditation conducted by Ven Sik Kwang Sheng. Ven Sik had teaches us the basic techniques of meditation. Now the rest is up to individual progression. He said if one practice and made progression in meditation that some might experience nice scenery of mountains, some a bright spot of light & some a decay corpse., one need not be afraid but just accept it. I had took up the course in search for a solution to calm myself and to be more aware of my emotion. Thus I would try my best to practice it whenever I can. Meditation had all the benefits to oneself

It’s hard to see me wake up early on Sunday morning. Usually I would sleeping til the Sun baked my butt then I would get out of my cosy bed. Today I brought my family, mum, Bro & his family to participate the “Alms offering to the Sangha” at Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Monastery (See pics 01).

Yesterday I bought a quantity of 88 medication oils, packets of Myojo Vegetarian Instant Noodles & Maggi Instant Vegetarian Porridges (See pics 02). The number 88 represented the total number of ordained ’short-term’ monks. I was told they are going Nepal for 2 weeks for their training. Kudos to them!! It is not going to be an easy but I can see the determination in their eyes in accomplishing their objectives.

As the ceremony starts, the group of new monks were led by Ven. Sik Kwang Sheng. They moved orderly, passing through everyone who had turned up to make alms (See pics 03).

The whole event was filled with lots of energy & blessings. Though my families & myself were sweating but I know it was very fulfilling activity for us that teaches us the virtue of selfless generosity in giving and receiving.

When we neglected those around us, we may not know that our love ones would be hurt deeply. They may cried to themselves secretly. At times they may have done you wrong, our mind would be filled with clouds of hatred, so much so you may wish them dead. But when your unintended wish fulfilled, it would be too late then.

The touchy clip would bring any man’s heart to tears.. watch them..

Hope they would do some soul searching. In this world, there’s such thing called retribution..

Mr Lee(the tirshaw old man), who does not understand English, says that he was not aware that the three Englishmen were making fun of him or that they were filming the trip. He brushed the incident off as bad luck, saying this was the first time his passengers refused to pay, and that there was nothing he could have done about it.

The tourist Mr Bo Davies, who post the vids as well as the dubbed “Bullies” in the incident ,did not feel they were being bullies at all. His best defence statement :” we were insensitive”
